Lauren Formica is the founder and principal advisor of the Strategic Health Security Group. SHSG is dedicated to providing consulting services to governments, the private sector, multi-lateral institutions, and non-profit organizations to meet their health security needs. She is currently a PhD candidate at the London School of Economics with a focus on medical countermeasure policy and financing.
Previously, Lauren worked in management consulting supporting clients across the US Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Defense. She was a 2024 Emerging Leader in Biosecurity Fellow, currently serves a researcher at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security where her projects focus on risk assessment, and she is a lecturer at Wake Forest University.
Lauren holds a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, a Master of Science in Business Analytics from Wake Forest University, and a Bachelors in Economics also from Wake Forest University. She holds a PMP, a TEFL Level 5 Certification, and has completed the Emergency Management Institute’s Professional Development Series provided by FEMA
